The Newark Museum
The Newark Museum is a world-class museum. There are a lot of things to watch, do and learn from, like art, science, and history. The Newark Museum is a great tourist destination, with or without a companion. You’ll find here a beautiful combination of permanent and featured exhibits, which includes interactive activities for kids also. It is strongly recommended visiting the child-centric areas last. The food options vary. In the case of a special exhibit, the cafe opens as well. When we visited, the cafe was closed and there were no other in-house food options. You can, however, still eat the food you bring at the cafe tables. Parking in the adjacent lot is $8. Admission to the Planetarium is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12 years old. Coat and bag check is free. Suggested donations to enter are $12 for adults, $7 for children, free for children 2 years old and younger. Take the comfortable and cost-effective flights of Emirates Airlines to reach this destination.
Newark Museum Dave & Penny
Start by checking out the amazing art that's on display. They have some really great exhibits to wander through, including Arts of Asia, the Americas, and Global Africa, as well as American Art. You can get lost in the web of these exhibits, and I highly recommend doing so. None of the paintings are behind glass and, unless there is a sign saying not to, you are permitted to take pictures of the art. The wide variety of art, including statues, pottery, paintings of all styles, blown glass, and interactive exhibits, as well as the science and history exhibits and a garden in the warmer months, makes it hard to believe that this is all one museum. Not to mention, they have some really great stuff for the kids to do too. It's really got everything.
Newark City Hall
Newark City Hall is located at Government Center. The building was built in 1902 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 17, 1978. The building is a five-story Beaux-Arts style building with a golden dome; built at the cost of $2.6 Million. The building’s interior provides a grand central staircase, stained-glass skylights, carved marble, decorative plaster, and wrought-iron works. The renovation of Newark City Hall was done at the cost of $18 Million in 2006.
